The students of 4th grade of ESO from the CPR San José have taken part in an interesting competition
about important historical facts from our country and the rest of the countries involved in the
Erasmus+ Project “Your History is Our History”, which is coming to an end. They
have learnt a lot and they have enjoyed working in teams in order to answer all
the questions.
First, they took their time to read all the
information about a specific event in the history of each country:
- Fascism in Italy (Social struggles and Fascist Coup)
- Lithuania during World War II and Soviet occupation
- The Hungarian Uprising of 1956
- Poland – 100 years of independency
- The Carnation Revolution in Portugal
- The Spanish Transition to Democracy
After they had read everything
carefully, they began to answer the questions, working in teams and helping
each other.
This activity has helped them to
know more about the countries involved in the Erasmus Project. Studying history
is important because it allows us to understand our past, which also allows to
understand our present. If we want to know how and why our world is the way it
is today, we have to look for answers in history, in spite of the fact that
historical events can sometimes be hard and terrible.
In conclusion, this activity has
provided them with insight into the cultures of Portugal, Lithuania, Italy, Hungary
and Poland, cultures with which they were less familiar, thereby increasing
cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
